If only the ups and downs of life were like a bungee cord, so maybe I could just bounce around effortlessly instead of TRYING SO FRIGGIN HARD yet never having any control over where I get flung on a given day.

The worst part is that shitty metaphor just makes it that much worse.

So...yeah.

About this whole...being on Livejournal...thing.

Long story short is, I started reading old entries...of this, and my real people journal.
And I decided I missed sharing that emotional content with people. I know that seems sort of...exhibitionistic? But I don't know, it feels like we don't always have the time in this crazy world to have these kinds of reflective conversations with each other that often. So to whoever out there is still reading this, hi! I might be making a comeback! Let's hope this isn't a bad career move...

Yesterday, Jonathan Gold, food critic at the LA Weekly, became the first food writer to ever win a Pulitzer Prize. He won the prize for criticism for work throughout his career at Gourmet and the LA Weekly. He reviews many restaurants in Eagle Rock, where my school is located, and is good friends with the Journalism professor that Ashley and I have been meeting with to coordinate our independent study/magazine.

This morning, that professor as well as Peter [a senior staffer at the Oxy Weekly who also works for the LA Times] sent me emails telling me the news. They were also emailing to tell me that they'd like to set up a meet for us and possibly have me go along with him on one of his reviews.

[i would just like you all to know how difficult it was for me to write that without babbling on and on and inserting random exclamation points and capitalizations and general nonsensical ramblings.]

Yo Oak Parkers!

Go look at the Wednesday Journal from last week!

I am in it! I wrote a letter to the editor as part of an assignment for my politics/media class and it got published!!

yayyyyy...also it's about the marion street mall, so go vote for milstein and balanoff and all those good folks who support keeping the mall--it's gonna be a real clincher and every vote counts, so throw off that bitch we call political apathy and make a change!!!

see the facebook group for details about sending in your absentee ballot if you arent at home and checking to see if you're registered.

spring
is wonderful. the weather in LA is shitty, actually, but i fucking love spring in general.
i love that i was born the day after the first day of spring. my mom said i was late, actually, so it's kind of like i was waiting.

i am very sick. mucus is seriously coming out of my eye. is that a normal symptom of a viral infection? does it have to do with my sinuses?

high school lures you into thinking that you can take whole days off when you feel like shit, when that really is not true in the real world. life keeps going when you're sick. newspapers happen. birthdays happen.

i am drowsy. maybe i will sleep now.

hey remember back in the day when we'd update our livejournals about the amazing fun day we had? ok maybe that was just me, but that used to be the sole purpose of this thing.

so i thought i'd do a throwback real quick to tell you guys that tonight, blake and taylor and myself decided to go play mini-golf. but we also decided we should look like we were rich people going to play real golf. toss a few argyle sweaters, some pearls, and an ascot in and you've got us, getting the evil eye from every seedy teenager there. amazing.

p.s. our names were harrison, olivia, and charlotte.

p.p.s. we then went to blake's mom's studio to have an enormous dance party. thank god i don't do entries like this anymore because it would just be like p.p.p.p.p.p.p.p.........s. y'know? night night.
